Cosmetic tattooing, is a fast-growing part of the health and beauty industry.
If you have faint eyebrows, no eyebrows, or partial eyebrows, a cosmetic tattoo can help. A lip tattoo can reduce "lipstick bleed," and give definition to the lip line. With a colored lip tattoo, lip scars seem to disappear, plus you can kiss lipstick good-bye. You can put away your cosmetic pencils for several months/years. Cosmetic tattooing also has more serious applications, such as improving the appearance of a nipple after breast reconstruction and the apperance of the scalp after hair thinning and loss. We do not perform nipple and scalp tattoo procedure but can recommend qualified artists for you.
We are able to provide tattoo artist's credentials and you are able to view many before-and-after photographs on our social media pages. To avoid infections and ensure professional results it is important to work with a licensed aesthetician. At Katie Kala we perform safe tattoo practices and always use sterile gloves and sterilised, single use equipment in line with Australian standards.
How is cosmetic tattoo done?
We use a needle that penetrates your skin and releases pigment. Proper sterilization, techniques, and licensing are key.
You will have the option to come in for a 30 minute consultation at which time we will discuss your brow expectations and ask a series of questions to qualkify which technique is best suited to you.
On the day of the procedure you will arrive having already applied a numbing cream, which we will detail to you at the time of booking. We will begin by measuring and drawing your brows/lips to show you what your new cosmetic tattoo will look like. This is a colaorabtive process and we are open to your feedback as we want you to be completely confident with the look that you will be sporting for the next 6-24 months. We then choose the color, based on our advice and your suggestion where appropriate.
Using a hollow, vibrating needle, we will apply the pigment into the top layer of the skin. Each time the needle penetrates the shallow layer of the skin, a droplet of pigment is released into the hole the needle makes. You will feel a slight stinging and many clients report the experience to be completley or relatively painless.
After the procedure, it takes about three weeks for the color to settle to its permanent shade.
At first, the colour will likely look dark and shiny. The surrounding tissue will be swollen and red.
We then have you back between 4-8 weeks for a complimentary perfecting session. Anything outside of this time frame will carry an incurred cost of $109. You are given detailed aftercare instructions and supplied with a complimentary healing balm to assist healing and prevent infection.
How long does it last?
6-24 months. This depends on a number of factors including your aftercare, skin type, sun exposure, skin care and the method you choose to have.
Do I pay the same amount every time?
No, you pay based on the time frame in which you return with 6 months being the cheapest and 3.5 years being considered new investment price. Our service menu price list details this for you.
Before getting cosmetic tattoo applied, it is important to note that the after care regime accounts for a large percentage of the final result. Also, you'll have the option to have a patch test on your skin to check on whether you have an allergic reaction to the pigment or products that will be used. This needs to be performed 2 weeks prior to the procedure and you must let your therapist know if this is something you would like to include.
